The book is well written and has good information for someone who is a total novice when it comes to computers and sites and office live. But if you have a modicum of knowledge you find it runs out of steam about half way to the information you really want It gives you the very basics even in the advanced topics area.

Even on the section for the web based store I could find no information on how to or whether you even can limit the stock of an item you have for sale. Say you have a one of a kind item. Can you detail that and kick up an out of stock or other message? No information at all on how many of an item or how to handle when that number is sold.

I found that all of the information was what was easily found just playing with the site a little and reading the online help, descriptions etc. Nothing extra. None of the little tidbits to make your life easier using the site that you would expect.

If you are very nervous and new to this sort of thing and haven’t planned out a web page before it might be useful to you. But I doubt you will find much of use if you have already created a basic page and played with the program or built a site with any other tools.

tells me everything I need to know for merchandising (the MS way) on the internet. I figure this knowledge is good for 18 months to 2 years, which by then I can throw it all away because I’ll have to learn a whole new tech system.
